It’s winter guys and this farro porridge will warm you up!
Serves 6-8
You’ll need:
300gram farro, rinsed well under cold water
150g caster sugar
600ml full cream milk
200ml double cream
Zest of ½ lemon
½ vanilla pod, halved and scraped for seeds
30gram unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
To create:
Preheat your oven to 170 degrees Celsius. While your oven is heating up place the farro in a medium pan with the sugar, cream, lemon zest, vanilla pod and seeds, butter and salt, stir well and bring to the boil. Once it is boiled transfer to a medium sized baking dish, cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
Take is back out and spoon into individual ramekins, which need to go back in the oven for another 15minutes – once this final stage is done your farro should be cooked, while retaining a little resistance. At this point you can set it aside in the fridge and reheat at a later date.
We add orange and halva, however you can use anything toppings you like!!
